Equality and Diversity
Southern Bridges is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in all its forms. We will work with our residents, employees and volunteers to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and equally. In order to promote a culture of tolerance and respect in all of our supported accommodations.
We value the benefits of a diverse society and are committed to the principles of equality and fairness. Believing that every person has the right to be treated with dignity and respect. Making sure we are in line with our obligations under the Equality Act 2010 opposing all forms of discrimination, and unfair treatment related to nine protected characteristics.
Equality is about ensuring everybody has an equal opportunity, and is not treated differently or discriminated against because of their characteristics. Ensuring that everybody has an equal chance to take up opportunities, and to make full use of these on offer. in order, to fulfil their potential.
Diversity is about celebrating and valuing how different we all are! Recognising, valuing and taking account of peoples different backgrounds, knowledge, skills and experience. Indeed, encouraging and using those differences to create a productive and effective environment to live. Diversity is something that applies to everyone, and should be part of everything we do. Subsequently, this requires everyone to play their part.

What does equality and diversity look like in our supported housing?
We understand that residents have individual needs and preferences, and that one size does not fit all. Southern Bridges aim to achieve equality and diversity by providing good quality houses for supported living to people with a variety of needs. In particular, our supported housing in Bournemouth delivers a safe environment for living to black and ethnic minority groups, gender diversity, and people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
When it comes to equality and diversity it is important to us to create an environment that is free of discrimination, prejudice and stigma. Everyone should be treated equally regardless of:
- Age
- Gender
- Ethnicity
- Religion
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
- Any other characteristic.
It is important to us that every resident is given the same opportunities to access services and support. As well as giving them all the same level of respect and dignity.
Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that all our residents and employees feel welcomed, and are not discriminated against or treated unfairly. Contact us here if you would like any more information.
